Unboxing a New Camera

Happy May 1st!

We’ve been hunkered down for a full month and then some. Here in Austin, some restrictions are starting to lift slightly, though the opinion is mixed on how good of an idea that is. I’m still staying safe and staying home as much as possible, but I’ve also been doing a little…shopping.

I picked up a new camera for myself, a Canon EOS R. It’s a full-frame mirrorless camera to rival the mirrorless greats like Panasonic and Olympus, and that it definitely does. I’d been hopping around between different manufacturers since I enjoyed the variety, and I thought it would be fun to come back to my “roots” (since my first serious digital SLR was a Canon Rebel XSi) and come back to Canon as my primary brand. I’m still going to keep a few other cameras on hand, but I’m happy to be back in the Canon realm for the time being. I won’t be getting into full details or doing a full review now, since I’d like to spend more time with it before doing so, but as the title suggests I made a video for my YouTube channel unboxing the camera, and showing off a few test shots. You can check out the video here:

And here are the sample shots so you can click on them to view in a higher resolution than what’s on the video:

Thanks for checking everything out. I look forward to posting more pictures and blogs, and all that good stuff. I appreciate everyone who’s taken the time to enjoy the content I put up here. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do creating it.

Also, before I forget… special thanks to Ron @ Precision Camera in Austin, TX - thanks for all your help, my friend. If you’re in the Austin area, go see Ron Jewell @ Precision, he’s the real deal. He’s never steered me wrong, and I couldn’t recommend him more highly.
